i got the car from a not original owner (from the best i can tell, he was the third). it had an old style PTU. so i called nissan and said you owe me a new style PTU cause everyone on tt.net said there's a recall on the old one! and they said there were no recalls on my vin. so i figure, the recall was performed on the original engine, then the engine was damaged and replaced. so that's why i think there's a possibility of a non-original block. the reason i care is just because if it is a replacement block it's likely (not definite) that the block in the car has fewer miles than the odometer indicates. judging by the perfect cross hatch marks on the block in the car with 170k on the odometer, i'd say that's probably the case. but maybe not. i'm really just wondering. no important reason.
